Recurring Reminder

I have an recurring appointment that was deleted by the sender but the
reminder will not go away. I get the following message:

"Cannot turn off the reminder. You may be reminded again. Cannot locate
recurrence information for this appointment."

Can anyone help me get this message to go away?
