I have a worksheet that has a link to another excel worksheet that is not
used anywhere. How do I get rid of it? The other worksheet is listed in the
Links dialogue box, but there are no cells that make reference to it. In
fact to try to trouble shoot it (using a copy of course), I inserted a new
sheet and deleted every other sheet. So now, there is nothing in my
worksheet except an empty sheet. Still, the links dialogue box lists this
other worksheet and the question asking if I want to update the links appears
whenever I open the worksheet.

The link is probably in a defined name (Insert / Name / Define), but could
be in many other places.

FINDLINK.XLA from http://www.BMSLtd.ie/mvp will find and delete the link for
you.

Or in Excel 2002/3 you can use Edit / Links / Break Link

Thanks. The problem was in a defined name as you suggested.
