Excel Hyperlinks and protected sheets
Hello all,
A co-worker of mine ask about a problem he is having with an Excel worksheet that I can't figure out. He has created a worksheet with protected and not protected areas on it. In the unprotected areas of the sheet he has people inputting data which he then wants the user to hyperlink to another sheet in the workbook. The problem is that when he or they right click on the cell that is not protected to add the hyperlink that option is greyed out. If he turns off the protection on the whole sheet then it becomes an avalible option from a right click. Any idea why this is happening and is there another way of doing this? Thanks, Jim |

In Excel 2002 or later, when protecting the sheet with Tools / Protection / Protect sheet, tick the Insert Hyperlinks option. With earlier versions, you could enter the hyperlink as a formula =HYPERLINK("#Sheet2!A1") Bill Manville MVP - Microsoft Excel, Oxford, England No email replies please - respond to newsgroup |
