Office 2007 programs will not open from Vista Start menu
I've lost the ability to open any Office 2007 programs from the Vista Start
Menu. This issue occurred 'soon' after installing a MSWorks 8.5 update (KB933828.msp). While I suspect the install is related...I can not definitively say this is the connection. Pinned Office start menu programs do not open, Office programs under 'All Programs' do not open and programs under start menu searches do not open. Clicking program icons simply has no response. No spinner (Vista hourglass), no error message, no performance slow down, simply dead links. The proporties of all these icons do show the correct paths. This issue is only with the Start menu, Outlook opens with no issue from my task bar. Running Office Diagnostic return no problems. All other program on my Start menu open normally. Currently the only way to open an Office 2007 program is to dig into the C drive and open from the exe file in the office folder. I have successfully pinned these exe to the Start Menu for my most used programs. But digging into the C drive anytime I need any other Office program will become a big pain. Any help to restore Start menu functionality for Office 2007 would be appreciated. Vista Home Prem, Office 2007 Business, E6600, 4GB mem |

Office 2007 programs will not open from Vista Start menu
Hi, Doug,
Have you tried to delete the pinned shortcuts (Remove from this list) and re-pin them? -- mezzodiva Please reply to the newsgroup so all may benefit. "Doug-WI" wrote in message ... Office 2007 programs will not open from Vista Start menu
I have the same issue also! If I switch the menu back to classic then it all works OK. Also if i turn off UAC it all works OK. So UAC is off until we get it working. -- I_need_help ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I_need_help's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=34866 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=826018 http://forums.techarena.in |

Office 2007 programs will not open from Vista Start menu
I had this problem too - came up with suitable answer THAT WORKS!!! 1) Remove all Office 2007 items pinned to Start menu. 2) Open "Computer" click on "C:" drive and open "Program Files" 3) Scroll down to "Microsoft Office" and OPEN 4) Open the folder holding all the generic office items (on my system this is named "Office12" - this is the MS name version) 5) Find each Office program you need on the pinned menu - and individually right-click and click "Pin to Start menu". EXCEL will be the first one??? N.B. Only pin those with the MS Office symbol for that program, i.e. EXCEL = green document with an 'X' on, each should be an "Application" ENSURE U DON'T OPEN THE ONE WITH THE COLOURFUL WINDOWS ICON - won't matter but you'll have to repeat the correct process! Make sure the following names are correct: (all capitals) - EXCEL - POWERPNT - WINWORD (they're the only ones I need!) Then go to Start menu - click on each and check works. They do for me! Then you can right-click each and Rename, to your hearts content!!! They should each now open! happiness all around??? -- FreakyBeaky ------------------------------------------------------------------------ FreakyBeaky's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/freakybeaky.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/office-setup/826018.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
