Any ways to go Palm to Outlook without losing custom fields in contacts?
Hi, I've tried to convert my pda phone data from palm desktop to outlook,
however in the contacts some custom fields that I had created in palm desktop are not carried over to Outlook 2003, I used the method of syncing with palm desktop then reinstalled palm software to use outlook as the sync client and then syncing it again with the phone. Most of the data has been carried over, except custom fields e.g. I have some custom data regarding completion of contracts, no of properties owned by person etc, but they are not carried over. Any one done this before? Thanks, Julius |

Since Outlook itself can't export or import custom fields, I'd be surprised if sync software does. -- Brian Tillman |

Actually there is a way to do it. It has been a while (Palm Vx), so I don't
remember exactly how I did it. But it was one of the following: 1. Export from Palm to a csv file, then import to Excel or Access. I believe custom mapping is then available. 2. 3rd party software like Chapura's Pocket Mirror or Intellisync. (some versions of Palm PDA's come with a free verison, you may want to upgrade for advanced functionality 3. If you haven't you could also check out: http://www.palm.com/us/support/outlooksupport.html they have some free Oulook Sync software depending on your Palm version. Exactly what I said: it's up tp the sync software, not Outlook. -- Brian Tillman |
