Default Merge fields in InsertText fields?

If I'm using "If...Then...Else" to insert bookmarked text into a merge
document is there a way to include merge fields in the bookmarked text?
Or do I have to use "If...Then...Else" for my text up to (for
example) the customer's name, then insert the Merge fields for his or
her name in the main document, then use another "If...Then...Else" and a
separate bookmark to continue my conditional text?

Hi Stephen,

A mergefield can be included inside the bookmarked text. Just select the
position in the text where you want to insert the mergefield and insert it.
