MS Outlook 2007 Contact Problem
I use the pop-up data entry screen for the "Full Name" field when inputting
First and Last Names. Contact screen displays the full name as last name first name. This displays the names in the wrong order on the screen AND on the business card. Also, the phone numbers are input using the telephone number data input screen. The phone numbers are displayed with the 1+ before the area code. Business Cards sent to me by others are displayed correctly for the "First Name" and telephone number fields. How do I change Outlook Contacts to display proper order of first and last name in the "Full Name" field and remove the "1+" preceding the area code and telephone number? -- Stymied001 |

MS Outlook 2007 Contact Problem
Russ, thank you for your help. I loaded MS Small Business 2007 from DVD. I
don't recall being asked to format the "Full Name" Field. I searched within the Help screens, but never found any format instructions except for the "File As" field. I discovered that I could directly input to the "Full Name" field without using the data entry dialogue box. For some reason, this works. I have no idea from the Help screens how to format the Full Name field. I tried to configure the phone number field to "not automatically add the country code by using the Actions Call Contact ", but the field has never been checked so I don't why it is displaying the "1+". I tried directly inputting the telephone number by not using the data entry dialogue box and the business card does not display the "1+". I could not find any Help instructions to fix the data entry formating. I appreciate your being there because the Help screens certainly have not been. Thanks! -- Stymied001 "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: So what format did you specify for the Full Name field? Outlook just does what you tell it to. This is end user error. MS Outlook 2007 Contact Problem
You specify the format for the Full Name field the same place you do for
File As: Tools Options Preferences Contact Options. Entering data directly into the Full Name field is not recommended. Parse the elements yourself if you want them to display correctly. Your phone number question makes no sense. Sounds like Outlook is no longer inserting the country code. So what is the question? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Stymied001" wrote in message ... MS Outlook 2007 Contact Problem
Hey Russ, I'm having the same issue Stymied001 is... I saw your post earlier
telling him where to find the dialing rules. I, like him would like to know if there is a way you can go in so that your contacts don't automatically put in the " +1 " in the dialing prefix. When I navigate to dialing options there is a area for "Settings for phone number formatting and dialing". The checkbox says, "Auto add country/region to local phone numbers". My box is already unchecked so like him I'm trying to figure out how to remove the +1 since the box is already unchecked so it shouldn't be showing in the first place.... It makes my phone numbers unreadable at times in my cell phone so I wanted to shorten them down. Sorry for the length of this, hope you can help. MS Outlook 2007 Contact Problem
When that box is unchecked, Outlook will not put a +1 in front of phone
numbers. Obviously, the setting only applies to new numbers you enter, not existing ones. So are you asking how to remove the +1 from your existing numbers? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Cobra" wrote in message ... Hey Russ, I'm having the same issue Stymied001 is...
