No fax printers are available
Hello
I have a terrible problem about FAX: I have 1 Windows 2003 SP1 + 5 workstations. Server is: Windows 2003 SP1 + all hotfixes and patches Server role: File-Sharing (a couple of folders shared via NETBIOS) and FAX (56k serial V92 modem on COM port) Clients: n°4 XP PRO SP2+ all hotfixes and n°1 W2000 SP4 + all hotfixes) Only 1 XP Client correctly connects to the fax console and can send faxes. The other client got this error "no printer fax are available" and they wont work. I have tried with a popular registry key faxfix.reg that works on four registry keys named RPCProxy, but I already got that keys.. No worm, no firewall on the lan, all patched and updated but I still cannot use fax. Any suggestions? I havent found any help yet. Thank you |

No fax printers are available
Many users who have updated an older version of Windows XP to SP2 before
they try to install the fax service appear to be encountering a problem installing the fax service. In these cases there is no error message during the installation (distinguishing this from the very common problem where the installation routine states it cannot find the necessary files). The installation appears to proceed without error, but when it is over there is no fax printer apparent and any attempt to send a fax results in the error message "Fax server information cannot be retrieved. The Fax Wizard will now close." This problem appears to occur because the security data base is corrupted as documented he http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884018/EN-US/ Note that this article describes a hotfix that users can obtain that might fix the problem and that Microsoft does NOT recommend simply running the Esentutl.exe utility to recover from security database corruption. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Elia S." wrote in message ... No fax printers are available
Nope. I've seen nothing else, but this group is for standalone fax products
only. Those familiar with network faxing problems hang out in the Windows 2000 and XP groups. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Elia S." wrote in message ... I tried that patch with no resolution of the problem. Any further helps? cheers |

You can try this procedure using the Esentutl.exe utility mentioned in the
