Customising toolbars
Until I installed 2007 I was able to create my own toolbars - for example to
insert accented letters in foreign languages. I can still do this but I want to copy and paste the accented letter (say an e acute) onto the button to make it obvious what it is. The only way I can find to change a button image is to choose a new one from a dropdown list - but this is no use to me. Can anyone help? Many thanks |

Customising toolbars
Jay, thank you. This is a terrible disapointment and will be for many of my
friends and colleagues some of whom rely on being able to use multiple customised toolbars. Unfortunately for me, I had a major crash on my PC, lost all my MS software and was unable to reinstall it because the licensing agreement had ended. I am therefore stuck with 2007 which has become so nannyish it's virtually not much use. Customising toolbars
You can put your own custom image on a button. It is not an easy process
and you may become near suicidal in the initial process, but again it can be done. See: http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Customize_Ribbon.htm -- Greg Maxey/Word MVP See: http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tips.htm For some helpful tips using Word. GaiaDLC wrote: Jay, thank you. Customising toolbars
GaiaDLC,
To clarify one point: The original post was about a custom image for a button on the Quick Access Toolbar, and that is still not possible. What Greg's page discusses is adding a custom button to a custom group on the ribbon itself. Once you get past the apparent complexity of RibbonML and realize that it's just some copy/paste, this may actually be preferable. Customising toolbars
While the built-in features won't let you create custom toolbars and toolbar
icons, you might find that the quick access toolbar will provide at least a place to put stuff you use often, which can save some ribbon surfing. I've found that by displaying the QAT below the ribbon, it's a bit handier than the default location. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "GaiaDLC" wrote in message ...
