Connector lines: Straight-cartesian inside Word
I'm using Visio 2000 and Word 2000. I have a Visio diagram using
dynamic-glue connectors, center-to-center (they show as striaght lines between oval nodes). I paste it into Word as a Visio object. I thought it was fantastic that I could drill down into the diagram within word and nudge some ovals. But whenever I do, all the straight lines become cartesian, and the nodes get moved around so that the diagram is unrecognizable. Even though some of the Visio toolbar widgets are available when I drilled down into the drawing within Word, there is no "Layout and Routing" tab under File-Page_Setup for me to diddle around with. I did try selecting nothing, then going to Tools-Layout_Shapes and replicating the settings in the original Visio file e.g. Connectors Style is Center-to-Center. As soon as I do this, I get the same unrecognizable result. Anyone familiar with the pitfalls, shortcomings, and workarounds (or lack thereof) of directly editing the Visio diagram within Word in the 2000 suite? |

Hi Paul --
The earliest version I have is 2003. I can't replicate the problem you're having, but, I do notice that the layout and routing is missing from the Page Setup. However, while you're editting as a Visio drawing, go to the toolbar, ShapesLayout Shapes. At least in 2003, you can set the routing to Center-to-Center. HTH. I'll have to give it a try at the next opportunity. Thanks.
