Message stuck in Outbox
I use Microsoft Outlook 2003 with WinXP. I sent a message that was too large
and it is now stuck in my outbox. I can not delete the message. Outlook states that it is in the process of being sent. I need to restart my computer everytime i want to send another message. Any suggestions? Thanks--Sissy |

I need to restart my computer everytime i want to send another message. File - Work Offline Wait 5 minutes. Attempt to delete the message. If it still fails, File - Exit Wait 5 minutes. Open up Task Manager and verify outlook.exe is not on the processes tab. Start Outlook and remain offline. Attempt to delete message. -- f.h. Microsoft Outlook MVP |

By nothing big, do you mean they do have attachments, but the attachments just aren't big? Generally, this sort of thing happens because of an Anti-Virus software package plugging into Outlook to try and scan all incoming and outgoing mail, which isn't needed and causes problems such as this. Why isn't it needed? Any virus that comes in via email will be caught by an active AV software package watching HD activity. The attachment previewer doesn't run any code, so won't fire off viruses there, and if you open the file in whatever application, it gets saved to disk and that's where the AV software catches it. If this just started, try uninstalling the AV software and reinstalling it without Outlook support to see if it fixes the problem. If it does, you can ping the manufacturer of the AV software to see if they have some other fix. -- f.h. Microsoft Outlook MVP |
