"Direct" delete in OE 6?
In Outlook Express 6 (running unders Windows XP), is there any simple way to "directly" delete selected items. By "directly" delete I mean completely delete, not sent them to the Deleted Items folder first.
This would be useful for dumping spam email, while still allowing "higher quality" items to be saved in Deleted Items for possible later review It seems that there ought to be a keyboard shortcut for this function. Please inform me, if there is. -- Thanks for your help. Robert |

Did you *lose* your original post? It was replied to.
With the message header highlighted, Shift + Delete. You'll be prompted Do you want to permanently delete, but it will bypass the Deleted Items folder. Alternatively, if you are doing this because you are saving mail in Deleted Items, bad move. Do not archive mail on default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupted. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. FileWork Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). FileFolderCompact all folders. -- Bruce Hagen ~IB-CA~ -- Bruce Hagen ~IB-CA~ "Robert wagner" wrote in message ... ... Did you *lose* your original post? It was replied to. This is the THIRD post the OP has made and which has been replied to - the other was in one of the Outlook groups. I gave the information and directed him here for OE questions! |

"Direct" delete in OE 6?
Yes, I received an error message after each post attempt, so I assumed that they weren't being made. Is there any way to delete the second and third.
Your response the my original question was just what I was looking for. -- Thanks for your help. Robert "Bruce Hagen" wrote (in part): Did you *lose* your original post? It was replied to. |

Don't worry about deleting them. If the problem is solved, that's all
that matters. -- Bruce Hagen ~IB-CA~ "Robert wagner" wrote in message ... Yes, I received an error message after each post attempt, so I assumed that they weren't being made.
