Retaining Shape data from stencil to drawing?
I have created a master shape in my Favorites stencil.
The shape contains shape data field plus the associated data graphic. When I try to drag-and-drop the shape to my drawing it looses both shape data graphics and fields. In addition the 'double click' to enter data behavior is also lost. If I drag the shape from the edit shape window to the drawing it works. What is going wrong? Steve |

Did you rename your new shape when you created it (goes to it having a name
the same as one that is already in the document stencil)? If your custom shape is not being placed on the drawing (but rather the copy in the document stencil), that could be reason for your customization not to appear. (as well as the pointers to the datagraphics). al "SteveG31530" wrote in message ... I have created a master shape in my Favorites stencil. There was another shape in the document stencil with the same name.
I deleted it and then added the new shape. I still get the same behaviour - the shape data graphics and fields are lost Steve |

Did you delete the Master in the local stencil too?

Is the local stencil the same as the document stencil?

Retaining Shape data from stencil to drawing?
I have started a new document and made sure that the document stencil
was initially empty. I then drag-and-drop the shape from the favorites to my drawing. I still have the same problem! The shape looses both shape data graphics and fields. In addition the 'double click' to enter data behavior is also lost. Is there a setting somewhere that controls this behavior? Steve |

Oh yes ... when I export the data to excel the "Master Name" field is
empty. So it sounds like the general definition of the shape is lost (except the basic size) Steve |
