Default Format Painter Not Working- Unexpected End Of File Error Message

When opening a file (in our case, architectural drawings) in Visio 2007,
that was created in Visio 2003, the Format Painter function will not work,
and produces an error. When clicking on a shape and then clicking on the
Format Painter icon, it results in an error message window, "An error (1)
occurred during the action Format Painter. Unexpected end of file." Since we
use the Format Painter function a lot, this error makes the 2007 version
practically useless for us. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.

i have the same problem but cannot find a solution on Microsoft web or elsewhere. We have a earlier versions and need to retain compatibility so have to save in older format. This is VERY frustrating!
