Default Sending OCR text from MODI to Word

I recently scanned several documents using MODI and used the OCR function to
recognize the text. When I then try to send the text to Word (2007), a new
Word document opens up but no text is placed within it. I eventually get an
error message that says "This action cannot be completed because the
"Document 1--Microsoft Word" program is not responding. Choose 'Switch to'
and correct the problem." Choosing "Switch to" give me a second error
message: "An error was encountered while trying to send text to Word. Please
make sure Word is properly installed." Fortunately, I do obtain an HTML
document containing the recognize text, which I can then paste into Word, but
I'd much rather do it directly.

As far as I know, Word is fine. I recently ran a "repair" for Microsoft
Office to try to correct a different scanning issue (occasional distorted,
unreadable scans). That problem wasn't solved but I don't think the repair
made anything worse, either. (The scans I ran OCR on looked good.)

Any idea how I can get MODI and Word to communicate? Is there some Word
setting I need to adjust?

Thanks!
