SBERET.MSI File Missing - Excel/Office XP 2002
Greetings to all...
Up till today, all of my XP Office (2002) apps have been running fine. Suddenly and inexplicably...and only as of today, when I try to open Excel or any of my many Excel documents, Windows Installer initiates and starts searching for set up files and then prompts me to insert the Office Xp CD ROM, which I unfortunately cannot find. All my other Office Applications (Word, Outlook, etc.) are still running fine. Windows Installer also directs me to a help file which indicates that the SBERET.MSI file is missing - and needed before I can successfully resume using Excel. I've tried searching in all folders and sub-folders (both hidden and not hidden) on my hard drive but have not been able to locate this file. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark DiRollo |

Dave,
I have posted in a total of 3 categories. Which of the other 2 are you referring two? Mark "Dave Peterson" wrote: Check your other post. Mark D. wrote: Greetings to all... Whichever one you got answers to.
That's one of the problems with multiposting. You have to check all locations for all answers. And you're asking others to possibly waste their time by answering a question that someone else already answered. It's not fair to you or to everyone else. You can use google (maybe a few hours behind) to search for stuff you've posted (and find the replies, too) http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search http://groups.google.com/advanced_gr...Excel*&num=100 Mark D. wrote: Dave, I have posted in a total of 3 categories. Dave,
I find your response offensive, putting me therefore on the defensive. I posted in more than one category to improve the odds of getting a response. Furthermore, each category is applicable, thus making it all the more difficult to choose just one category to post in. And for your further edification, when I post I always request to be notified of responses in all cases. I had seen the one and only informational response registered under one of the other categories. But that response did not remedy my situation as it the respondent merely states that the file is actually on a Business Edition CD ROM. It doesn't matter what CD ROM it's on, I don't have it. I appreciate you offering your input but, frankly, anyone who feels they'd be wasting their time by responding to a post shouldn't bother responding at all. Afterall, isn't this all voluntary? While I appreciate your effort, I do not appreciate the reprimanding tone of your reply. Please...wag your finger in someone else's face...not mine. If you learned the difference between "multiposting" and "crossposting" you
might not have to go on the defensive. If you quit using that clunky CDO Interface and tried a real news reader you would be able to find your posts and replies to same. Potential responders may not know that you multiposted your question and got
answers elsewhere. I know I don't like it when I spend time coming up with an answer only to find that the questioner posted several times and has several responses. I don't think I'm alone thinking that way. People who volunarily answer questions still don't like to have their time wasted. So my post was more of a warning to them that you could have the answer elsewhere. Mark D. wrote: Dave, I find your response offensive, putting me therefore on the defensive. SBERET.MSI File Missing - Excel/Office XP 2002
I also am experiencing this problem (sberet.msi file missing)....it began in
the same manner...all of a sudden any XLS file cannot be opened. I do have the installation cds but appparently due to automatic upgrades, they don't seem to work now because they are 'older' than the version currently installed on my computer. I have spent hours attempting to wade through a variety of "help" solutions online, but have found no satisfactory answers. Any simple advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am not proficient at 'digging around' in the computer. Thank you very much, -- LDuke "Mark D." wrote: Greetings to all...
