bumped from the 15th - had to get around all those spam sales messages.
Yes, I have this issue that i have seen many fixes for across this board and throughout the MS help sites. This is not on my computer, but rather on my friend's computer. I live in St Louis and he is in Albuquerque, so I am doing all the "repairs" remotely. He installed Office 2007 a few weeks ago and it was working for him very well. Then he got the hairbrain idea to clean up his registry because his system was running very slow. Now he gets this error that tells you to run set up. He has only one account on his computer (Win XP) and when we do attempt to "repair" or "remove" Office 2007 - the system gives him an error that states the following: ------------------------------------------ ERROR 1402. SETUP CANNOT OPEN THE REGISTRY KEY UKNOWN\.ade\Access.ADEFile.12\ShellNew. VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT PERMISSIONS TO ACCESS THE REGISTRY OR CONTACT PSS FOR ASSISTANCE.... SETUP FAILED. ROLLING BACK CHANGES ------------------------------------------ I have even gone into TASKMANAGER and closed out all of his running programs and disabled spyware, antivirus, and firewalls - all to no adue. So, here I sit, after spending 10+ hours researching and deleting and attempting changes, with (as I see it) one option - a full format and reinstall. I am looking for any additional help on how to remove Office 2007 completely from this system. With the amount of deleting i did, i have to remove it and start over. He had Office 2003 installed previously, but all of those files have been deleted. Now he has 2007 and it doesn't work anymore. thanks |
