Default Excel 2003 -insufficient Resources

I have just inserted a series of 8 calculated fields using sumproduct
into a spreadsheet which references a closed workbook and have now
been given the error - "Excel cannot complete this task with
available resources. Choose less data or close other applications"

Any bright ideas on how to make additional resources available as
there are no other applications open.

Any help would be appreciated
