Default Margins Ignored on Mirrored Pages?

Hi,

I have a strange margins problem with Word 2000.

I am setting up a document on A5 paper. The printed output will be
double-sided and hole punched so I am using mirror margins to ensure a wider
margin on the punched side of the page. In Page Setup... my margins are set
as follows:

Inside: 2cm
Outside: 2.6cm

My Normal style has a left margin of 0.5cm.

On an odd numbered page the Normal style indents from the left margin of the
page by the appropriate amount (i.e. 0.5cm). However, on even numbered
pages the indent is ignored. Although the ruler at the top of the page
shows the left margin as being 0.5cm from the left edge of the page, the
actual text is coming out flush against the margin and not indented at all.

Can anyone offer any ideas as to what's going wrong?!

Cheers,

Alfie.

Uh, I think you've mirrored your mirrored margins! g Unless it's a typo, you've got your
Outside margin larger than your Inside margin and it's the Inside margin that's the bound
or punched edge (i.e., Inside is the left margin on an odd numbered or recto page and
the right margin on an even numbered or verso page). Try flipping your inside and
outside to see if that straightens things out.

The alternative approach is to set both inside and outside margins to 2 cm and use a
..6 cm gutter.

HTH!
