Default Track Changes and Find/Replace Questions

Hello,

We have Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 in a network environment.
Please check me on my understanding of the following:

1. Track Changes - you cannot set your options for Additions to BOTH bold
and double-underlined, is that correct? You can only select from the
drop-down options list, and you can only select one or the other, is that
correct?

2. If I set my options so that all track changes appear in blue (instead of
by author), I am not able to save those options selections with the document
so that anyone else who opens the document also sees everything in blue, is
that correct? Put another way, each user sets their own options as to how
Additions and Deletions appear, and a specific user cannot set the options so
they remain the same for anyone opening that document, is that correct?

3. Find/Replace question - can you search for formatting only? That is,
can you search, e.g., for any text that is in bold?

Many thanks,
Rosemary

3. Yes. Open the Find panel (Ctrl-F) and with the cursor in the Find
box, either type Ctrl-B, or click More Format Font (you'll then
see you can search for just about anything Word can do).

Note that the typing-in-the-box method is the only way you could, say,
change from, say, Bold Underlined to Non-Bold Non-Underlined Italic
Small Caps.

If you don't Hide Changes before you do this, you'll also Find all the
deleted examples of what you're looking for, which will slow you down
and be annoying.

2. I don't think you can set the color -- Word decides what color to
use depending on how many different Users have Tracked Changes and
where you are in the list. (But I've never used the "Not by Author"
setting.).
