Default Bugs in Word 2007?

Hi,

I think I found 2 bugs in Word 2007.

Bug #1 (Book Fold printing)
If the document is saved in DOCX format, printing a document with "Book
fold" setting is printed incorrectly. The last page is not printed and the
first page is printed on the left side instead of on the right side. If the
same document is saved in DOC format, everything will be printed out
correctly.

Bug #2 (Rotated pictures spacing)
If the document is save in DOCX format and any picture is rotated 90 degree
or 270 degree, there are large spacing to the left and to the right of the
picture. If the same document is saved in DOC format, everything is
displayed correctly.

Any confirmation is appreciated. Thank you.

Default Bugs in Word 2007?

I'm not seeing Bug #1, but I'm seeing a variation of Bug #2.

Regardless of picture rotation, when I include a picture (wrapping set to
square or tight), there is a gap where the picture should appear -- a blank
retangularish area -- the the picture appears either behind or in front of
the text in the following page.

I'm not big on wasting paper, so I performed the test printing to both XPS
and PDF, and got the identical results. When working in compatibility mode,
the bug does not occur.

I will report this to Microsoft, to see if they can replicate.

Could you please try out Bug #1? It is simple.
1) Go to Page Setup and setup the "Multiple Pages" setting to "Book fold".
2) Insert 4 pages.
3) Insert page number.
4) Print.

It suppose to print out the pages correctly (which can be folded). But if saved as DOCX, page 1 (which should appear on the right side) appeared on the left side. Page 8 (or any last page, which should appear on the left side) is not printed at all. If saved as DOC, no problem.

Correct printout (doc)
---------------------
| | |
| page | page |
| 4 | 1 |
| | |
---------------------

---------------------
| | |
| page | page |
| 2 | 3 |
| | |
---------------------

Incorrect printout (docx)
---------------------
| | |
| page | empty |
| 1 | |
| | |
---------------------

---------------------
| | |
| page | page |
| 2 | 3 |
| | |
---------------------

Doesn't happen here. When I try that, I get identical results with a ..docx as I get with a .doc. Perhaps someone else can try it, as well.

Regarding the other bug, it was reported to Microsoft back in February by someone else. Hopefully, that and some other .docx graphics oddities can be fixed before Office 14.
