IE6 & Outlook Problem (Strange Problem)!
Hello
I am experiencing a problem with both IE6 & Outlook Express. For no apparent reason and in no time specific way both apps. lose the ability to connect to the internet. I am connected through a router which handles the connection to this PC (problem one) and other on the router which have no problem. The router is staying up without a problem so I know it is not that causing it. The only way to get both apps to run again is to do a re-start. Other internet apps such as ftp client & MSM still work fine when the other 2 have failed. Anyone had experience of this, and even better have a fix. It is getting a pain having to keep re-starting sometimes 4-5 times a day. Solution eagerly awaited :-) Kevin Wade |

Windows version?
If you eliminate the router and connect directly, does the problem persist? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE) & Security KW wrote: Hello I am experiencing a problem with both IE6 & Outlook Express. OK Windows XP home on A Dell PC
This (problem) PC has only ever been connected via a router. It never used to do this. This PC is about 5 months old and is with the original Windows install shipped with the Dell. The other PC on the router is exactly the same in age & config and is a Dell too. This never shows the same problem. The really annoying part of it is that it will sometimes do it 4-5 a day, other times it will run for weeks. At the moment it is acting up again hence the question. The router is currently showing up time of 9 days. I have installed SP2 on both PC's I do have an old ADSL modem, but I no longer have the drivers for it as it is not supported any longer. This is why when I changed PC's I went for the router. I have done through spy ware & virus checks and all is clear. Could there be a damage piece of core that is common to both apps, if so is there anywhere I can download a new version of each. Do you think this would help? is there anywhere I can download a new version of each. Do you think this would help? No. The router connects to a modem, right? Are you telling me you can't eliminate the router from the equation and connect the problem machine directly to the modem? If it's not the router causing the problem, it's prolly hijackware. It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/, http://castlecops.com/forum67.html or http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30 for expert analysis, not here.** -- ~PA Bear KW wrote: OK Windows XP home on A Dell PC I have installed SP2 on both PC's This (problem) PC has only ever been connected via a router. Hello
I will try to get another ADSL modem from a friend to see if it still happens. I'll let you know what happens. Have you come across this problem b4 then?
