Office 2003 Setup Error 1500

Default Office 2003 Setup Error 1500

On setup, I first tried upgrading, then simply installing
(after deleting Office XP) and get: "Error 1500. Another
installation is in progress. You must complete that
installation before continuing this one."
How do I get around this?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, John D. asked:
