Default Change Page x of y to reflect only certain pages?

I am creating a template to use for a client and they would like to have page
x of y but not count the forematter. I have multiple sections, so is there a
way to only count the number of pages from a certain point going forward?

Isn't this the same question asked in a different way?

I don't believe it is. I think the other question was asking how to insert
"page x of y" in 2007.
My problem is Word counts all the pages in the document (or section if you
use that field). My page numbering starts at 1 after the first ten pages of
forematter and I didn't want to count those pages in the page x of y. I want
y to = the number of pages after the forematter. I hope that explains what I
need.

So Sorry! The first time I tried to post this question I got an error to try
again later. Since I didn't remember exactly what I wrote, I did write it
again. Thanks for your answer on the other post.

You're welcome. There is often quite a delay before a post appears and at
the moment there seems to be a sync problem between servers exaggerating the
delay.

But note that Macropod has replied with a better way to add the SECTIONPAGES
field in the first section and hiding it.
