Default Downloading unneeded Office Service Pack files

I have Word 2002 on my (XP Home) computer (plus the rest
of the Works 2002 Suite). The Office download center
reports that I should download the latest Office Service
Packs. BUT I don't have Office, just -- as I said -- the
Word 2002 component of Office. The listing of the
contents of the service pack shows a lot of
atches/updates for Word as well as for other components
of Office, which I don't have.

My questions: Do I hve to download that nearly 50 minutes
of non-Word "stuff" in the Service Pack just to get the
specific file or files for Word?

If I do download the Service Pack and only the Word
portions are installed, what happens to the downloaded
but uninstalled OTHER, non-Word portions? Do they remain
on the hard drive, taking up lots of real estate (after
all, it will take 50 minutes to download that SP!)? how
do I get rid of all those OTHER, non-Word patches/updates?

If you can, please respond to my (unmodified) email
address:

if you can. Thank you.
