Yet ANOTHER sound file question......
I just upgraded to PowerPoint 2007 from 2002. Am having an issue that I
can't solve: I'm trying to insert an .mp3 sound file that I can't get to play....although I can get other .mp3's to work. Here's what I have.........Insert sound from filefile is in same dir as .ppt fileanswer to question is answered "start automatically.""play across slides" is ticked"Loop until stop" is clickedKB max exceeds size of filespeakers are "on" and not on "mute" volume is turned upSlide is set to advance automatically with a timing noted. Does not play when show is started; does not play when""preview" is clicked. File DOES play on my system when it is not inserted into PowerPoint. It is 6.00MB in size, unprotected with a bit rate of 256 kbps. Thanks, pinger |

Yet ANOTHER sound file question......
I can only think of a couple of issues. One is path length -- does this file
have a long file name? If you put the presentation and the MP3 in a folder with a short path -- like C:\test -- does it work then? Another is, where did this file come from? It's possible it has digital rights management (DRM) info embedded, and that's preventing it from playing in PPT. -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com What's new in PPT 2007? http://www.echosvoice.com/2007.htm Fixing PowerPoint Annoyances http://tinyurl.com/36grcd PowerPoint 2007 Complete Makeover Kit http://tinyurl.com/32a7nx "Jim Varner" wrote in message ... Yet ANOTHER sound file question......
Hi Echo:
Whew! That was close. I knew my post was tough since it sat for 29 hours with no bites. Tried the "test" below with negative results. The file name size is "normal." I ripped the track off one of my Cd's.....I don't know much about embedded DRM's so that could be it. But I did figure out a work around since I had a lot of time to think about it. I grabbed the file again with a DC reader into my audio editor as a .wma, then resaved as an .mp3. Re-inserted, and voila, problem solved! Thanks, Jim Varner "Echo S" wrote in message ... Yet ANOTHER sound file question......
Oh, that's good to hear, Jim.
If you ripped the file with Windows Media Player, that might be where the DRM came from -- I think it embeds that automatically. -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com What's new in PPT 2007? http://www.echosvoice.com/2007.htm Fixing PowerPoint Annoyances http://tinyurl.com/36grcd PowerPoint 2007 Complete Makeover Kit http://tinyurl.com/32a7nx "Jim Varner" wrote in message ...
