Default chart error message / work sheet not open ?

I have a chart that I want to add a new series of data.
I get an error message saying
"Reference not valid. Renerence must be to an open worksheet"
But the chart and the data are in the same workbook.
I can go to any worksheet. Why won't it chart?

Any suggestions?

Ron

How are you referencing the data?

Hey Jon ! Thanks for your question.

The chart was copied from another workbook into this new workbook
But the data page was not copied .

I wanted to add a new line on the chart using data from another page in the
new workbook.
That's when I got the error message.
Your question made me open the old workbook to check the source of the old
data.
When the old workbook was open , I could add new lines on the chart in the
new workbook..
Problem solved!
Thanks Again
