Global Template issues
Word cannot save changes to the global template because
it was opened with read-only access. Do you want to save the changes in a template with a different name? Can some kind individual tell us how to over come this error message we get when we try to close word? We will be very grateful for it. Thanks very much in advance. |

Global Template issues
If you are trying to make changes to the template that is on a drive that you can not save it to you would then have to save it elsewhere but you may use the same name. If you should have full access to the file then try going the the global.dot file(or whatever its called) through windows explorer and right click to bring up properties and un-checking the read-only box. Then go back and try to save.

Are you sharing normal.dot? That is a _bad_ idea (and will give you this
error message). Normal.dot should be on the local computer and individual for each user. Anything you are trying to accomplish by sharing normal.dot can be done in other ways. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://www.mvps.org/word which is awesome! --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- This message is posted to a newsgroup.
