Create an install of Office 2003 with SP1

We have a volume Licencse for Office 2003 Pro. I made a compressed image
(copying the files to a shared folder) and downloading the updated setup.exe.
Things work fine for install. But now I have to install SP1 after I do the
install. Is there away to add SP1 to the orginal install. I know you used
to be able to "slip stream" the service packes by installing the Service pack
on to the share, then the share was updated to SP1. The reason I am useing a
Compressed image install point instead of an Admin share point is that I want
the users to be able to cache a copy on there local drive due the number of
laptop users. Is there any documention on how to do this are can some one
tell me how to do it?

Hi Jon,

There isn't a supported method for using the
Local Install Source directly but you could
create a 'custom cd image' from an Office admin point,
store that has had the SP1 applied, then copy that
image to the hard drive and install from there,
although you may want to try installing from that
custom CD and see if the LIS option would be available.

To add SP1 to the installation of Office 2003, you create what is called a
"chained install". This results in the SP1 files being installed locally at
the end of setup just as you need. Look at:
