Default How do I get the trial software to accept my product key?

I have tried many, many times to enter the product key code on the sticker
that's on the back of my Office 2003 Standard Trial software. I keep getting
an error that says that the product key is invalid. So, I contacted Microsoft
who sent me to a website where I obtained a new product key. That one does
not work either. I am still getting the same error message when I enter the
new product key also. What should I do?

answered this question.

Did you already use the trial software for a set timeframe and are trying to
reinstall it?

Default How do I get the trial software to accept my product key?

Yes, we have used up the trial period of the software. We recently had to do
a complete recovery of our HP computer, and therefore reinstalled all the
software that came with our computer. Now, I'm trying to use the product key
that is printed on the back of the software, but an 'invalid product key'
error keeps popping up.

DUH, what part of "used the trial ..." and "Yes, we have
used up....." don't you understand? You can't install a
trial piece of software after the trial period is expired.
You will need to purchase the version of Office you would
like installed, and install it or use one of the free Office
clones that are available (www.openoffice.org is a good
one.)

You BOTH were wrong!!! Microsoft contacted me through email and gave me the
instructions on how to activate my Office software. It's up and running! I am
now navigating the software, learning how to use it. Perhaps you were a bit
too confident of your MS tech knowledge?

Hello

I am no expert in computers and most off all Office. My Dad is. But from your answer which is below I doubt very much if that is the case. I have also saved face with wording as such a while ago. Like Mrs\Miss JoAnn and LVTravel stated you are not able to install a Trial version for the second time. Unless you did not tell or say the complete facts above in one of your replies in this thread then I believe that you are wrong.

I'll bet you didn't tell Microsoft you had already used up your trial period
tho, did you? You managed to cheat them out of another 60 days. Feel good

out of them. Too bad the OP sees lying as an acceptable way of doing

No, no, no! You're absolutely right for being upset at the thought of me
lying, but I didn't! I explained everything to them the same way I explained
it all to you. I DID tell them that I had been using a trial period that has
now expired. They even assigned me a new product key, and that too did not
work. I paid them a small fee to basically unlock a glitch in the software
itself, and it began working. The information that MS provided me with was
not a trial period, it's the full product. I truly understand your ill
feelings at the thought of me lying. I appreciate the help and comments that
you gave.
