Default how do i stop Outlook constantly synchronizing folders?

I am using Outlook under Vista Home Premium on an Acer Aspire 5100 (with 2.5
Gb RAM). The PC is preforming vey slowly and it seems to be because Outlook
is constantly synchronizing folders and using all the CPU capacity. Any ideas?
