Default No showing of cellnumbers used in formular with colour

Hi experts!
I have a problem with creating a formular in one worksheet and letting
numbers from cells in another worksheet be used in the formular.
Normally I just point at the cells I want to use and afterwards I can check
by doubleclicking on the cell with the formular and then se with colour
markings which cells I used. This does somehow only work within one worksheet
and not between different worksheets. What is wrong?

Nothing is wrong, how would you expect it would look if it worked? What you
can do is to use toolsformula auditing and select for instance trace
precedents, then you would see an icon for another sheet and if you double
click the arow from that icon a goto box would open with the cell address(s)

Hallo Peo
Thank you for answering
I know the function that you are mentioning but it is not enough answer for
me.
It is the more simple function that has gone.
Normally yoc double click the cell with a formular e.g. =A1+A2
When you do this the to cells (A1 and A2) will be marked with a coloured
frame around the cell so that is is easiy to see which cells are used in the
equation. This does normally work within worksheets but it does not work now
in my new files.

I apologize, I misunderstood. So you are saying that even if the cell
references are on the same sheet nothing happens? What happens if you press
F2 when selecting the cell with the formula? Go to toolsoptionsedit and
make sure edit directly in cell is checked

Hello Peo
I gues I was working yoo late at night.
All my cell references were on another sheet and thats why the colours did
not work.
I figured out how to use the same set up in different files so that my data
handling can be done with just copying into a standard file.

Thanks again
