Default I need a conditional formula

I am creating a master budget. I have worksheets and the first is my
input page. On one of the pages I have situation where if I have a
large amount left in my finished goods inventory and the next period I
don't need to use it all, I need to be able to have the columns added
differently. Right now, it is set up so the first number is the
materials to be used, then the materials left in beginning inventory
are multiplied by the cost to give the cost of materials to be used
from beginning inventory. Well if I have 100 units in beginning
inventory and I only need to produce 50, then I can't get an accurate
number because I don't know how to say if this number in beginning
inventory is less than the amount to be used, then use it all, but if
it is less than, only multiply the amount needed.

You said:

used, then use it all, but if it is less than, only multiply the amount
needed.

I am hearing:

If BeginInventory is less than, do something, but if BeginInventory is
less than, then do something else.

Please try to clarify.
