Default Mail merge/Office contacts

Previously when I used my contacts in Outlook when I did a mail merge I was
able to filter my contact by the user field 1 or user field 2. Now the user
field does not come up as an option when I try to filter my contact. How can
I correct this?

Try starting the mail merge from Outlook AFTER filtering your contacts.
