I recently had to have my computer formatted due to a trojan. I went to set
up my outlook express version 6 but I can't. I keep getting this error
message

"Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Hotmail',
Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol:
HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Invalid login.', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800CCC32"

I have looked through the questions about 0x800CCC32 and tried the links
offered for help. Nothing fixes the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Microsoft dropped the HTTP/WebDAV protocol at their mail servers that
was previously used to access Hotmail accounts. They changed to using
the newer HTTP/Deltasync protocol. No version of Outlook Express
supports Deltasync. OE only supports the older and now defunct WebDAV
method. Outlook Express is a dead product (as of 2002) and it does not
have an interface to support add-ons so it will never get updated to
support Deltasync.

IMAP-like access using HTTP/Deltasync
Use an e-mail client that support Deltasync. That won't be OE. Windows
Live Mail (http://get.live.com) supports Deltasync.

POP/SMTP access
Microsoft dropped POP/SMTP access many years ago but re-added it in
February 2009. Any e-mail client that supports POP & SMTP can access a
free or paid Hotmail account. Read:

1. IE Tools | Internet Options | Privacy | Sites: type in...

live.com

and Allow cookies.

2. If you've just installed IE7 or IE8, see...

Authentication fails when you use Outlook or Outlook Express to try to log
on to a HTTP-based mail server...

Outlook Express uses cookies? I don't think so.
