Publishing is read-only, so if you aren't syncing, then either AutoArchive
is deleting them or you have a view set that hides them.

Tools, options, other tab, Autoarchive - is it enabled? If so, right click
on the calendar and choose properties, autoarchive tab and disabled
archiving the folder or change the archive date.

To check views, go to the view menu and find the Current view command then
click Reset. See http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/resetview.htm for
screenshots - the second method will be sufficient.
