Default undo calendar archive

I accidentally archived my calendar instead of backing it up. Now I have to
go to archived calendar to see appointments prior to today.

Can I undo the archiving to have just one calendar of past, present, and
future appointments?

I have tried the drop & drag, and copy or move option to put archive items
back, and it still leaves 2 folders or creates a 3rd copy of the archived.

You can't drag the calendar folder itself. Open the source calendar folder,
switch to a table view like Events or By Category, select the items you want
to move back (or press Ctrl-A to select everything), then move the selection
to the destrination calendar.
