Default Is there a way to partially fill a shape or image?

I'm trying to show ratings of various health plans -- some are three-stars,
others four stars, and a few involve a half-star (such as a 3.5 star rating).
Is there a way to display the half-star visually, so that the shape of the
entire star is shown but only the left half is filled in? Several online
rating sites use this technique, but I haven't figured out how to do it.

Thank you,

Create the star, copy/paste special as a .png (before you do this, be sure you
have the correct color, line weigh and line color). Use the transparency tool
for the background, use the crop tool to create half a star.
