Default Deleting Email Before Opening

Email that is obviously spam regularly gets into my inbox. Is there a way to permanently delete an email or group of emails without opening them first? Every time I select them to delete, they appear in the preview pane.

Is there a way to competely delete an email from the inbox, without sending it to the deleted folder?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Turn off the preview pane. (You can put a button on the Toolbar to toggle
the preview pane on and off.) Now you can select the messages you want to
delete without opening them. If there are more than one, hold down the
control key as you click on each. Then clicking on the Delete button or
pressing the Delete key will delete them all at once.

To delete messages without sending them to the Deleted Items folder,
select one or more messages in the message list, then hold down the Shift
key and press the Delete key.

Also see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#9 You can get rid of a lot of that junk using message rules.

Steve,

Thanks for the tips. I do use message rules to delete spam from the server, but they are not 100% effective.

Best way to eliminate most spam is to install www.spamfighter.com, it is free and works quite well with very little training to sort out the good from the bad. And yes you cam block items from opening and add the automatically to "blacklist".

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users.
It has removed 60 spam emails to date.
Paying users do not have this message in their emails.
Try SPAMfighter for free now!

It also is known to interfere with OE and result in message loss as well as
loss of functionality.

You could use an "intervening program like Mailwasher Pro which gives you a
chance to review email before it gets into your inbox.
