Problem opening a Word doc on a new computer
My daughter has a new laptop. She has a hard drive from her old laptop which
is a complete image of her old internal hard drive. when she attaches it to her new laptop and attempts to open a Word doc she gets this error message, "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application." I am guessing this is because she doesnt have Office installed on her new computer. How can she do that since she doesnt have the disks from her old laptop (Office was pre-installed on that one)? thx bl |

Problem opening a Word doc on a new computer
She can't. OEM (preinstalled) versions die with the computer. You can't
transfer them to a new system. -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] Tech Editor for "Microsoft Publisher 2007 For Dummies" "blandrigan" wrote in message ... My daughter has a new laptop. As an alternative she can download and install Open Office from www.openoffice.org which is a free "clone" of Office at about the Office XP (my opinion) level for power but the newest version will handle Office 2007 files. It has clones for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and also has a database and drawing program. |
