address book
Hi,
I use MS Outlook Express 6.0 (OE6). My OS is Windows XP (professional). I have 2 questions about address book. Q1: I want to export email addresses from a group in the address book of OE6 to an address book of OE6 on the new computer. What$B!G(Bs the best way to do that? I tried to export address book (WAB) to a CD first and took it to the new computer and tried to import address book (WAB) from the CD to an address book of the new account hoping that that group would appear in the left pane of address book. But no groups appeared although all the email addresses from other accounts were also imported. Q2: I have 10 different accounts. Each account has different email addresses in the address book. Is there a way to save email addresses in each address book? Again I tried to export address book (WAB) to a different drive. I could do it. However, this action saves all email addresses from each account all together. Is there a way to save email addresses for each account separately? I just want to export email addresses in each account to the address book of the corresponding account on my new PC. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. |

Q1: Go to Start | Run and type wab /new to create a new, empty Address Book. Now open the group in your Address Book. Select the first entry. Hold down the Shift key while you select the last entry. Press Ctrl-C Open the new Address Book and click once in the pane for entries. Press Ctrl-V Q2: Open an identity and open the Address Book. Export to a Text (Comma Separated Values) file. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP, IE/OE Please respond in Newsgroup. Hi Ken,
Thanks for your posting here. Based on my knowledge, the group will be imported after importing the whole address book. Please check the steps you used to export/import the address according to the following article: OLEXP: How to Back Up and Recover Outlook Express Data http://support.microsoft.com/default...B;EN-US;270670 As for question 2, you may have to import the all the addresses to Text (Comma Separated Values) file using Export wizard in OE. And then you can edit the CSV file and save the addresses for each account to separate file. You can use Excel to modify the CSV file. Hope this helps. If you need further help, just post back to let me know Thanks & Regards Alan Sun Microsoft Online Partner Support Get Secure! - www.microsoft.com/security ================================================== === When responding to posts, please "Reply to Group" via your newsreader so that others may learn and benefit from your issue. ================================================== === This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. -------------------- |From: "Ken" |Subject: address book |Date: Fri, 27 Aug 2004 16:55:11 -0600 |Lines: 47 |X-Priority: 3 |X-MSMail-Priority: Normal |X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1409 |X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2800.1409 |Message-ID: |Newsgroups: microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlooke xpress |NNTP-Posting-Host: 1Cust148.tnt1.laramie.wy.da.uu.net 67.234.165.148 |Path: cpmsftngxa10.phx.gbl!TK2MSFTNGXA01.phx.gbl!TK2MSFT NGP08.phx.gbl!tk2msftngp13 .phx.gbl |Xref: cpmsftngxa10.phx.gbl microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlooke xpress:226144 |X-Tomcat-NG: microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlooke xpress | |Hi, | | | |I use MS Outlook Express 6.0 (OE6). I think you'll find that Groups and Folders neither import nor export, Alan.
