Can't import my old address book
Hi Dave,
The Windows Address Book should be backed up by exporting the entries as a comma-separated values (.csv) file. The address book entries can be tied to an identity or if shared with Outlook the entries are controlled by Outlook. If your back up is a *.wab file open it and the new address book and then drag the entries to the new address book. You could also export the old entries a CSV file and use it to import the entries. More Information http://home.earthlink.net/~kuaytim/exportwab.htm -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MVP - (IE/OE) Lynnwood, WA * "davegb" wrote in message om... I recently re-installed WinME. I backed up my OE6 address book to a CD. When I try to import the old address book, I get an error message, "An error occurred during the import process. The import process cannot be completed." Typical MS, no clue as to why or what to do about it. Anyone else seen this? Any known fix? If not a direct fix, anyone know of a way to get the addresses out of the old book? I'd even be willing to manually re-enter, if necessary. Thanks for the help! |

Can't import my old address book
For files that were copied to CD, after copying the file back to the hard disk, you must
remove the Read-only attribute that all CD files automatically get before using the file in your application. Right click the file in the Windows File Explorer, select Properties and the General tab and uncheck the Read-Only box. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "davegb" wrote in message om...
