Powerpoint '03 -- Publisher '03 copy/paste and text boxes
Hello,
I have a 40" wide x 30" tall MS Powerpoint '03 document that I'd like to insert into Publisher '03. The reason is that Powerpoint will not permit tiled printing and pasting into Publisher has been suggested to me as a good workaround. I need to do my proofreading on a standard printer before sending final art to a large format (and high cost) unit. I can copy/paste my PPT background and then overlay all of the slide information with another copy/paste operation. Publisher lets me print across multiple pages and ensure that fonts are legible and so forth. The problem: When I paste into Publisher, the text boxes sent over from Powerpoint become slightly undersized. I have to manually increase the size of over 60 text boxes to see each text element in full. I've tried several approaches including Paste Special-- Office Art, etc. to no avail. Is this a known issue or am should I be doing something differently? Thanks, --- Ravi |

to utter: I have a 40" wide x 30" tall MS Powerpoint '03 document that I'd like to insert into Publisher '03. The reason is that Powerpoint will not permit tiled printing An easier alternative would be to download and use an application such as FinePrint (www.fineprint.com) to tile print the document. You print at 40" x 30" from PowerPoint to the virtual FinePrint printer, then FinePrint does the magic and prints the tiles to your desktop printer. I'm wondering why you were using PowerPoint to create the document in the first place. -- Ed Bennett - MVP Microsoft Publisher |

I downloaded FinePrint, set it up for 40"x30", and printed to it. I don't see tiling, howeber, and when I send to the physical printer, I get only one 8.5"x11" sheet. I looked around the various menus for Tiled Printing and checked the developer's website. Could I trouble you for the procedure to set up the tiling? Tiled printing is not listed as a feature. I'm wondering why you were using PowerPoint to create the document in the first place. Powerpoint is the product that we are required to use at work for these kinds of projects. I agree it may not be the best choice but it is what we have. Best regards, --- Ravi |

Powerpoint '03 -- Publisher '03 copy/paste and text boxes

I was certain that tile printing was a feature of FinePrint. My apologies. No problem. I just got an email from their tech support that it does not do it. Perhaps it did in a previous version because others think that it can: http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00538.htm FinePrint not working, my next suggestion would be to export as a high resolution bitmap image and import that into Publisher to tile print. This worked very well. I didn't realize that I could export the file as an image. There were some minor overlap problems but I was able to spot a few errors in my document that were not visible at the smaller scale printing or on screen. I appreciate the fast responses.
