Outline an area in a picture
I have a picture of a blueprint and I need to outline an area with a colored border that is transparent. I can add a colored transparent picture to highlight the area, but I can only figure out how to create a colored border that's opaque.
Thanks. |

What version Publisher?
Any shape you use can be transparent as long as you choose no fill. You can outline areas with the line tool. -- Mary Sauer MS MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://www.mvps.org/msauer/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Chowder" wrote in message ... A small child turns to Ed, and exclaims: "Look! Look! A post from Mary
Sauer !"... What version Publisher? Any shape you use can be transparent as long as you choose no fill. You can outline areas with the line tool. But you can't have semitransparent borders, which I think is what Chowder was trying to accomplish. -- Ed Bennett - MVP Microsoft Publisher http://www.mvps.org/the_nerd/ Before reading this message, view the disclaimer: http://mvps.org/the_nerd/disclaim.htm |

I used this feature just the other day. Just go to the Line Color More Line Colors Standard Tab Move the Transparency scrollbar to your preference. -- Brian Kvalheim Microsoft Publisher MVP http://www.mvps.org/publisher This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. |

Hi Mary Sauer ),
in the newsgroups you posted: || You can kinda do this with shadows. True, you could use shadows...but wouldn't just changing the border color to transparent be easier? If this person has 2000, could he not add transparency in PhotoDraw? Even Paint will
allow transparency. Publisher maybe all things to all people, but some stuff is best done in other applications. I know the line shadow isn't the answer. -- Mary Sauer MS MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://www.mvps.org/msauer/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Brian Kvalheim - [MSFT MVP]" wrote in message ... FWIW, in Publisher 2000 you can go to Insert Picture New Drawing and then apply line/borders with semitransparency as well. Note that the default is 50% transparent (i believe), and that you don't have a an option to choose between 1-100%. -- Brian Kvalheim Microsoft Publisher MVP http://www.mvps.org/publisher ~pay it foward~ This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. |
