Default Outlook Connector fails?

I grudgingly installed outlook connector to continue access my hotmail
through outlook. When I add my Hotmail (Premium, live) to the Outlook
connector, close and restart OL, OL crashes with the following errors:

Bucket 1250551571, bucket table 1, faulting application outlook.exe,
version 12.0.6504.5000, stamp 49e7f47e, faulting module unknown,
version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000, debug? 0, fault address 0x00000000.

Faulting application outlook.exe, version 12.0.6504.5000, stamp
49e7f47e, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000,
debug? 0, fault address 0x00000000.

Restarting in safe mode does not resolve the issue. Uninstalling and
reinstalling the latest version of OLC from Microsoft does not resolve
the problem. Rebooting does not resolve the problem. Disabling add-ins
does not resolve the problem. Disabling all run-time apps such as AV,
adobe monitor, etc...does not resolve the problem. My two questions
are, what was wrong with outlook and hotmail that gave Microsoft
reason to screw up something that for me, wasn't broken, but now is.
And how do I fix this? I've installed every SP, nothing resolves the
problem.

Default Outlook Connector fails?

Just a stupid question probably. Why would you need to add the Outlook Connector to
Outlook when you have a paid Hotmail account (Premium, live). This paid Hotmail
account always included pop3 access in Hotmail

Hotmail is not an pop3 email account. You must unse HTTP.
See post on 09-23-09 regarding the same subject. Take the same steps to
correct it.

A Hotmail paid subscription account was always pop3 accessible as an option. A free
Hotmail account was not. The OP posted that he has a paid Hotmail account (Premium,
live)

On Sep 1, 2009, Microsoft change Hotmail hosting options such that
POP3 access of Hotmail would no longer enjoy access to folders and
contacts, requiring premium users to convert to using the Outlook
Connector to access hotmail in its full splendor.

And the "Hotmail is not POP3 " statement is correct: Users of Hotmail
premium whom wish to use outlook may only access their HTTP account
via the Outlook Connector, which doesn't seem to work.

....and, the troubleshooting steps detailed in
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...906d35682c53b#
have also been considered, tried, and...do not resolve the problem.
Outlook has worked fine for me for years, web access is perfect, why
did Microsoft require this change? I'm sure someone in the user
community knows the secret configuration trick to get this OLC
working, thanks.

Hotmail supports POP3 - this is inbox only though. If you want all of the
folders, calendar, and contacts you need the connector.

See http://www.slipstick.com/problems/msn_denied.asp for complete details,
but if you use Outlook 2003/2007, you can download the free Outlook
Connector to receive Hotmail or use POP3. If you're using Outlook 2002, you
will need to change the account to use POP3. If you use Outlook Express to
view Hotmail, you can choose between downloading Windows Live Mail (free) or
reconfigure your account to use POP3.

POP3 is now free for all hotmail/live accounts. The only reason for using
the connector is for calendar, contacts and all hotmail folders in Outlook
as POP3 is inbox only.
