OE does not open with Nikon
When attempting to e mail pictures from Nikon's View, and ViewNX, Outlook
Express 6 does not open. An Error message appears with View, which Nikon no longer supports. Other programs properly open Outlook Express (v6), including the photo program "Picassa". Nikon Support Says: View NX the e-mail window does not open when you click on the appropriate icon or select the option from the File Menu, it is possible that this is because View NX has not been included in the list of programs Outlook Express is to work with, this is why we recommended you contact Microsoft. Have you verified the settings of Microsoft Outlook Express have been changed to include View NX in the list of software it is to work with?? I do not find any place in OE to "set" the programs it opens with. Any ideas? XPPro, on a new generic Intel PC |

Bruce, clicking on the e mail icon in the Nikon program, after selecting the
photo. This works in the Picassa program (which I prefer not to use as it appends an ad). The right click you describe works in Explorer, as well. Only Nikon fails. I really think it is their program. Their program worked on my previous PC, which, however ran XP Home, upgraded from 98SE. All programs were reinstalled from source, data from backups. Still guessing here. If you right click on the e-mail icon, do you have the
Open With option? If you do, then select Outlook Express and check the box to "Always use........". If that doesn't help, we'll need to wait for someone that has knowledge of your program. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail] Imperial Beach, CA "Brad Gaylord" wrote in message ... Such software typically requires a Full MAPI mail client (e.g., MS Outlook).
OE is a Simple MAPI mail client. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 Brad Gaylord wrote: When attempting to e mail pictures from Nikon's View, and ViewNX, Outlook Express 6 does not open. I think that is it, and Nikon won't admit it.
Leaves unanswered, how come Picassa works, and Nikon on the old machine. Nikon probably worked since it was XP Home is my guess. Picassa is Google, and they know more about computers than Nikon. Thanks for the help. "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: Such software typically requires a Full MAPI mail client (e.g., MS Outlook). how come Picassa works
The current version does not require Full MAPI. Earlier builds did, IIRC. and Nikon on the old machine [running] XP Home Earlier Nikon software version, perhaps? Not compatible with WinXP SP3?
