Default E mail receiving problem

I am using Outlook Express 6.0. I also check my mail when not at my computer
through Yahoo webmail. I have only one e-mail address.

There are times when a sender sends me an e-mail that I normally receive on
Outlook Express. Sometimes I do not get the e-mail from that sender only to
find out later that it showed up in my Yahoo mailbox. This is aggravating
since I only check it occasionally. In the meantime the sender is wondering
why I do not respond. There have been no changes in my Outlook Express setup
nor have I blocked any of these recipients. Why, I wonder, are these e-mails
not showing up on Outlook Express?

Any thoughts?

Default E mail receiving problem

Your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the default Main
Identity. Try your account in a new Named Identity...

File | Identities | Add new identity

Assuming all is well, (1) compact all folders in the old identity, (2)
import messages from the old identity into the new one, and then (3) delete
the old one (File | Identities | Manage Identities).

To avoid such corruption in futu

- *Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages*. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working
offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm

- Do not cancel Automatic Compacting, should it occur, and do not attempt to
close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting
is taking place.

- Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It can cause
corruption (i.e., loss of messages) and provides no additional protection:

Is it showing up in the Yahoo Inbox folder or another one?

Normally OE would download only the Inbox folder. Options in the Yahoo
web interface allow you to also download the Spam/Bulk folder. Look
under the POP3 setting there. No other folders can be downloaded This
is controlled entirely by Yahoo.

If the message is showing in the Yahoo Inbox, then look in OE at Tools,
Messages Rules, Mail for any rule with an action of Do Not Download.
