Default Creating New Folders

When creating new folders using Outlook 2003, the messages are Grouped. Is
it possible to disable the "Group By" default setting when creating new
folders?

Thanks,
CM

That's not actually the most consistent aspect of 2003. I think the grouping
of the new folder (when you make a Tasks one) is the same as your primary
Tasks one. Not always so when you make an email folder. So if you want to
make a lot of new folders, Un Group the default folder (in the mailbox) and
try then.

Thanks Judy for replying.

I already tried your method before I wrote this post with no success. That
is I created an email folder Work1, and when I moved email messages to it
all messages were Grouped, the new folder was set with the Group By checked.
I Unchecked the Group By and the email messages were un-grouped, which is
what I wanted. After I ungrouped "Work1" I created a new folder and named
it "Work2", the path looks like this:

Outlook Today
Work1
Work2

The new folder "Work2" was also Grouped, my emails messages all were
grouped. I had to manually ungroup it, again. There are no options when
creating new folders to set any desired settings, just name the Folder
and the Type and thats it. There's got to be an option somewhere when
creating new folders to have the folders set not to be Grouped.

As I said, it's not always so with email folders - I haven't worked out the
irregular pattern (?) for new email folders.

Turn on the Advanced toolbars and leanbr to use the Group By box as you'll
get greater functionality than the Show in Groups setting in the Arrange by
thingamy.
