Default Import date or event from Web site to Outlook calendar

Are there scripts (or how would one set up) a function on a Web site to
automatically save a date or other event information in a user's Outlook
calendar. For instance, user visits a Web site. An event is posted there. I'd
like a button on that page saying "Add to Outlook." If the user presses the
button, information on the event (date, time, location, etc.) is
automatically added to the user's calendar.

You'll see this on many, many web sites done with iCalendar, an Internet
proposed standard for calendar items. Outlook can save items in the ical
format and web code and components are available to generate iCal content on
the fly from databases, etc. as well as saved .ics files.
