Default "Error on page" error message.

I cannot get to any messages with my personal laptop. After logging in, I get an "Error on page" message in the lower left corner of the first page after logging in. I cannot open any new messages, or go anywhere else in OE. I do not have this problem with my business laptop. Please help. (PS. When I first got the personal laptop, I could get to my messages just fine.)

Hi Kemdor,

There is likely a problem in the message store. First, if you use AVG
anti-virus message scan disable this feature. Start the troubleshooting
procedure with Folders.dbx.

Rename the Folders.dbx file:
1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
2. In the Named box, type folders.dbx. Include hidden files and
folders for Windows XP.
3. In the Look In box, click your primary hard disk (usually drive
C), and then click Find Now.
4. Right-click the Folders.dbx file, and then click Rename.
5. Type folders.old, and then click OK.
6. Start Outlook Express. This creates a new Folders.dbx file
automatically.

Open the Store Folder Alternative

In Outlook Express click on Tools, Options, Maintenance tab...Store Folder.
Place the cursor at the left of the text of the path to the folder.
Drag the cursor to the right until the text scrolls to the end.
Right-click on the text and choose Copy.
In the Start, Run box right-click Paste. Click OK to open the store folder.

See Inside OE to understand what can occur when Folders.dbx is replaced.

Using Keyboard Shortcuts for the Open the Store Folder Alternative

An even easier method when opening that page is to use the Tab to
highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C and close OE, then use Start/Run
and Ctrl+V. Same caveat about hidden files applies but can be easily
modified in Explorer by using Tools/Folder Options.
